How to fix automatic ad sharing issues on Jiji?

Having trouble connecting your Meta Business Account to automatically share your Jiji ads on Instagram and Facebook? Don't worry – most issues can be resolved by following the simple steps below.

Before you start: Quick requirements check

Make sure you have:

  1. An Instagram Business account (not Personal)
  2. Your Instagram linked to a Facebook Page
  3. Both accounts in the same Meta Business Manager
  4. Full permissions on both accounts

If any of these are missing, that's likely your problem. Keep reading to fix it.

Problem 1: Your Instagram is still a Personal account

What you'll see:

  • No toggle options for Instagram/Facebook
  • Error message about "professional accounts only"
  • Feature appears unavailable

Why it happens:

Automatic sharing only works with Instagram Business or Creator accounts. Personal accounts cannot connect to Meta Business Manager.

How to fix it:

  1. Open Instagram app and go to your Profile
  2. Tap Menu (three lines) → Settings & Privacy → Account
  3. Tap "Switch to Professional Account"
  4. Choose Business (not Creator)
  5. Select your business category and add contact information
  6. Important: Make sure "Private Account" is turned OFF – your account must be PUBLIC
  7. Tap "Done" and wait 5 minutes
  8. Go back to Jiji and try connecting again

Problem 2: Instagram not linked to Facebook Page

What you'll see:

  • "Please link your Instagram to a Facebook Page first"
  • Auto-sharing shows "Not Connected"
  • Connection fails during setup

Why it happens:

Meta requires your Instagram business account to be officially connected to a Facebook Page for cross-platform sharing to work.

How to fix it:

  1. Open Instagram app → Profile → Edit Profile
  2. Scroll to "Business Public Information" section
  3. Tap "Page" → Tap "Connect or Create"
  4. Select your Facebook Page from the list
  5. If your Page doesn't appear, make sure you're an admin on that Page
  6. After connecting, verify on Facebook:
    • Go to your Facebook Page → Settings → Linked Accounts
    • Instagram should show as "Connected"
  7. Wait 5-10 minutes for the connection to sync
  8. Return to Jiji and try connecting again

Problem 3: Instagram and Facebook in different Business Managers

What you'll see:

  • "Accounts not linked to same Business Manager"
  • One platform connects but the other doesn't
  • "Assets in different portfolios"

Why it happens:

Both your Instagram and Facebook Page must be in the same Meta Business Manager for automatic sharing to work.

How to fix it:

  1. Check where your accounts are:
    • Instagram: Settings → Accounts Centre (note which email/Business Manager)
    • Facebook: Go to business.facebook.com → Check which Business Manager owns your Page
  2. If they're in different Business Managers, contact the owner of the other one
  3. Ask them to transfer ownership or remove the asset
  4. Once removed, add both to your primary Business Manager:
    • Business Settings → Accounts → Pages → Add your Page
    • Business Settings → Accounts → Instagram Accounts → Add your Instagram
  5. After both are in the same Business Manager, reconnect on Jiji

Problem 4: Toggles don't appear after connecting

What you'll see:

  • Settings show "Connected" but no on/off switches
  • Blank space where toggles should be
  • "Feature loading..." stays forever

Why it happens:

Either your browser cache needs clearing, or the connection hasn't fully processed yet.

How to fix it:

  1. First, verify all requirements from "Before you start" section are complete
  2. Clear your browser completely:
    • Chrome: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Select "All time" → Clear
    • Safari: Safari menu → Clear History → Select "All history"
  3. Close browser completely and restart your device
  4. Log back into Jiji and go to Settings → Automatic ad sharing
  5. If you just connected: wait 15-30 minutes and refresh the page

Still not working?

Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari) or use incognito/private mode. If toggles appear there, your main browser has cache issues.

Problem 5: Ads not appearing on Instagram or Facebook

What you'll see:

  • Ads published in Jiji with auto-share enabled
  • Ads don't show on your social media accounts
  • Posts appear but with errors

Why it happens:

Ads may be rejected by Meta's review system, or the connection was interrupted.

How to fix it:

  1. Check ad status in Meta Business Suite (business.facebook.com):
    • Look for "Content Calendar" or "Publishing Tools"
    • Find your ad and check status:
      • "Published" → Should appear within 30 minutes
      • "Pending Review" → Wait 1-4 hours for Meta review
      • "Rejected" → Fix the issue and repost
  2. Common rejection reasons:
    • Image quality too low (needs 600px minimum)
    • Too much text on image (over 20%)
    • Contact information format incorrect
  3. If status shows "Published" but ads don't appear:
    • Check your Instagram profile directly – ads may not appear in your own feed
    • Ask someone else to check if they can see it
  4. If still not working:
    • Toggle auto-sharing OFF and back ON
    • Wait 5 minutes and try posting a new ad

Problem 6: Just created Instagram Business account – nothing works

What you'll see:

  • Followed all steps correctly but toggles still missing
  • Connection fails even though everything looks right

Why it happens:

New Instagram business accounts take 15-30 minutes to fully activate in Meta's systems.

How to fix it:

  1. After converting to Business account: wait at least 15 minutes
  2. After linking Instagram to Facebook: wait another 10 minutes
  3. Total wait time: 25-30 minutes from account creation
  4. During this time, verify both accounts show in Business Manager
  5. After waiting, refresh Jiji page and try again

Important: Don't keep trying to reconnect during the wait period – this can reset the activation timer.

Problem 7: Missing permissions or wrong Business Manager owner

What you'll see:

  • "You need permission to authorize this connection"
  • "Cannot confirm Instagram account"
  • Button doesn't respond when clicked

Why it happens:

You have access to the Page or Instagram, but not Full Control in the Business Manager.

How to fix it:

  1. Contact whoever created your Business Manager
  2. Ask them to give you "Full Control" permissions:
    • Business Settings → People → Find your name
    • Set to "Full Control: Everything" for both Page and Instagram
  3. After they grant permissions:
    • Log out of Jiji completely
    • Clear browser cookies
    • Log back in and try connecting again

Other common issues and quick fixes:

Browser or connection problems:

  • Clear all cookies and cache for facebook.com and meta.com
  • Try a different browser or incognito mode
  • Log out of all Meta platforms, restart browser, log back in

Two-Factor Authentication required:

  • Facebook Settings → Security & Login → Enable 2FA
  • Use authentication app or SMS

Instagram account is Private:

  • Instagram Settings → Privacy → Turn OFF "Private Account"
  • Business accounts must be PUBLIC for auto-sharing

Business verification needed:

  • Business Settings → Security Center → Start Verification
  • Upload business documents and wait 2-7 days
