Promo issues due to duplicate ads — why did this happen, and how do I fix it?

⚪ What are “duplicate ads”?

These are ads that promote identical items. Our rule is “1 product = 1 ad.” If you have duplicates, it simply means you have multiple ads for the same product.


⚪ What are the consequences of posting duplicates?

The severity of the consequences depends on how many times you've been penalized for posting duplicates.

Here’s how it works:

  • First time: your ads will be placed at the bottom of search results for 24 hours or until you delete duplicates.
  • Second time: your ads will be placed at the bottom of search results for 7 days or until you delete duplicates.
  • Third time: all your ads will be removed from search results for 7 days or until you delete duplicates.
  • Fourth time: your account will be banned for a year without an option to unblock it earlier.


⚪ How do I prevent this?

Post only one ad for each of your products. Having multiple ads for the same item won’t boost your sales – it only increases your risk of penalties. So remember and stick to the golden rule: 1 product = 1 ad.

⚪ I’m already facing this issue. How do I fix it?


Review your ads to make sure each one promotes a unique product. Delete any duplicates, then reach out to us at support@jiji.com.et or in the Live Chat. If everything meets our policies, your ads will be promoted at full capacity once the penalty period is over.

⚪ What if I don’t fix my ads within the penalty period?


They’ll remain at the bottom of search results or be removed entirely until you make the required edits.


⚪ If I edit my ads before the penalty period ends, can they be promoted again sooner?


Once our support team reviews your ads and confirms they meet our policies, they’ll be ready for full promotion again – but the promotion will start only after the penalty period ends.
