What Are Glass Cartridge Fuses?
Glass cartridge fuses are cylindrical protective devices used to safeguard electrical circuits against overcurrent and short circuits.
Key features:
Transparent body lets you see if the fuse has blown.
They must be replaced when blown — they’re single-use protective devices.
Common formats:
5 × 15 mm — small electronics (equivalent to “2AG”).
5 × 20 mm — very common in power supplies and consumer gear.
6.3 × 32 mm — larger, used in mains-powered equipment.
1AG / 3AG etc. — older inch-based automotive and appliance standards. .
Voltage Rating
Voltage rating must meet or exceed the circuit voltage. A fuse rated for 250 VAC, for example, can be used on 120 VAC circuits; not vice-versa.
