1. CUT-IN pressure — turns the pump ON
When you open a tap, water pressure in the pipe drops.
For example, if the switch is set to:
CUT-IN = 2.0 bar (≈29 PSI)
When pressure falls to around 2.0 bar, the diaphragm inside moves and the electrical contacts close → pump ON.
2. CUT-OUT pressure — turns the pump OFF
When the pump runs, pressure rises.
For example:
CUT-OUT = 3.5 bar (≈51 PSI)
When pressure reaches about 3.5 bar, the internal mechanism moves the contacts open → pump OFF.
So it works like this:
Tap opens → pressure ↓ → 2.0 bar → ON → pressure ↑ → 3.5 bar → OFF
The difference between the two settings is called the differential:
3.5 − 2.0 = 1.5 bar (≈22 PSI)
Adjustment
Most switches of this style have springs/adjustment screws inside. Generally:
Main spring → raises or lowers the overall ON/OFF pressure range.
