Polyimide (Kapton) tape is a thin film tape with high heat resistance and excellent electrical insulation. It’s widely used for:
High-temperature masking (e.g., wave soldering)
3D printer heatbed and hotend insulation
PCB protection during soldering
Motor/transformer winding insulation
Aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications
It usually has a silicone adhesive and amber/gold color.
It is made from a polyimide film with a silicone adhesive.
It is designed to withstand temperatures up to 260∘C260 raised to the composed with power C 260∘C 500∘F500 raised to the composed with power F 500∘F
The tape has a high dielectric strength and is flame retardant.
Common applications include electrical insulation, masking for wave soldering of circuit boards, and powder coating.
