The mattress consists of 130 individual heat-sealed bubble air cells arranged in an interlocking grid configuration. The system works by continuously alternating air flow into every other row of bubbles via the electric pump. [1, 2]
While one group of chambers inflates, the adjacent group deflates, shifting body weight and changing support points roughly every 6 to 12 minutes. This specialized cycling motion dramatically reduces localized pressure on vulnerable areas of the body, improving peripheral blood circulation and preventing skin tissue breakdown caused by long-term bed rest.
